Winter Wonderland

We have waited a long time for a sight as pretty as what we have here today in Minnesota. Since yesterday afternoon, we have received around 10 to 12 inches of beautiful, white snow and little flakes are still falling. It was such a quiet event - a little wind, causing interesting drifting - but no thunder or lightning here like they experienced in Rochester. The snow simply fell during the night and delighted me when I opened my blinds this morning.

We haven't had this much of a snowfall in 24 hours in February here ever before! So many times lately, a big snowfall or blizzard was predicted, and then it missed us. In fact, until yesterday Minneapolis had recorded only 12.5 inches of snow for the entire winter. Now for a state that is well known for being the icebox of the nation, we really should have snow cover! Oh, how I would have liked for this to have happened the week Josiah was here visiting. He could have had so much fun playing in it.

I've enjoyed the fact that it occurred on a weekend, as it gave me a chance to spend time watching it fall, knowing I didn't have to drive in it. I've ventured outside a few times just to take in the splendor of it (and to get the mail and take out the garbage).
(Sorry about my big fur tree photo on its side - - it did NOT fall down; I cannot figure out how to rotate it. Help!!)

Yes, Brian. I would love to have you come to my house to play. In fact, we are getting more snow right now. They are predicting 16" more snow from now through Friday! You would love running in it. :-0
