Just when I think it can't get worse, it does. We have had more major activity in our building with this extensive remodeling. This morning the workers came early and were cutting cement out of the floor to make the area ready for the new footings that will support the ceiling of our lobby. Their cutting apparently caused so much heat that the fire alarm went off and fire trucks came to the building, shutting down our elevator. The emergency vehicle had already left our location by the time I arrived, but the fire chief paid a couple of visits to our office to check on things — midmorning and again later this afternoon. It's been interesting.
